First phase of renovation of Brussels North station completed
The first phase of the Brussels North project has been completed. Phases 2 and 3 are still in the planning. The preparations for these final phases are in full preparation. After its completion, the large transit station has undergone a complete metamorphosis.
A choice for well-lit stairs
In collaboration with parties from different disciplines, the ILLUNOX® banisters with LED lighting have been realized. The lighting, which is fully integrated into the handrail, illuminates the stairs at an angle of 40 degrees. As a result, the stairs are adequately and stylishly illuminated. These illuminated banisters are therefore a smart and functional addition to the basic lighting of the corridors and platforms at Brussels North.
Features of stair railings with LED
The LED lighting used comes from the range of the power LED line and has a kelvin value of 4,000k, neutral white. The stainless steel banisters of the ILLUNOX® 48 system have a diameter of 48.3 mm and are double. The lower handrail is equipped with LED lighting. In this way, even the youngest visitors to the station can easily reach the banister. The lighting angle of 40 degrees from the lower handrail is necessary at this height so that the lighting is nicely distributed over the entire staircase.
Professional quality
The handrails are highly resistant to dust and moisture. To achieve this, a combination of mirror welding and IP68 connectors was used for this project. And the impact resistance of the ILLUNOX® handrails is classified in the highest category (ik10). Such impact resistance is also necessary for a performance in public spaces. This makes the railings vandal-proof.
Custom-made illuminated staircases
In close collaboration with fosfari lighting, the configuration of the ILLUNOX® banisters with LED lighting has been worked out. The starting points were to minimize the required number of power points and to provide continuous lighting.
Efficient assembly
The handrails are prepared as much as possible before installation. Thanks to the special ILLUNOX® system, the handrail supports could easily be slid into the desired positions during assembly. Due to this efficiency of work, the assembly time on site is significantly reduced.
